President and CEO of Wildlife Conservation Society Monica P. Medina met with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Bisola Ojikutu

President and CEO of Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Monica P. Medina met with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Bisola Ojikutu at the Embassy to provide updates on WCS activities in Congo and to learn of new developments in the United States’ support, through USAID, for sustainable natural resources management.  Chargé Ojikutu briefed Medina, who had until recently served as State Department Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans, Environment, and Scientific Affairs, on U.S. support to preserve wildlife in and around the UNESCO World Heritage Site Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park, including efforts to improve the socio-economic situation of the communities living in this area through alternative livelihoods.  The United States is proud to have supported efforts to preserve and protect Congo’s rich biodiversity and its national parks for 30 years in close partnership with WCS, the Congolese government, and other key partners.  This is vitally important work, not just for Congo, but well beyond its borders.
