“Hate crimes long committed, unfortunately are ignored … we will encourage legislators to legislate” declared Congolese Head Judge Ms. Sinagani Wowondo. She was reflecting on the impact of the ILEA (International Law Enforcement Academy) training she took part in in Gaborone, Botswana. She was one of 11 Congolese from the Ministries of Justice, Defense, Interior and Environment who took part in two seminars sponsored by the US government on hate crimes and environmental crimes. US Ambassador Todd Haskell met with the participants and encouraged them to make good use of what they learned. He also emphasized his desire to strengthen good relations between the United States and the Republic of Congo.
